Reading! One of my favorite past times!

I just realized I wrote some about this a few weeks ago, so I changed my title a little this time. I think I had some other stuff this time about reading than I did last time. Sorry for being a little repetitious there. :( I've been reading since 1st grade and I haven't really stopped since! :) I remember how my teacher had colorful word charts and that has stuck with me! I am so thankful for Mrs. Gideon! I don't get to read as often as I used to but I am trying to make room in my schedule for that a little more! I have several e-books on my iPad and my iPhone. I also have some paperback and hardback books! I just recently finished reading Heaven Is For Real! It was pretty good! I'm looking forward to getting the DVD once it comes out! I've got a book with me that I want to get a good ways into while I'm on vacation--All Things Hidden by Tracie Peterson and Kimberly Woodhouse! Well--I'm off to read a little, I think! :) have a good evening! :)

Texas

We have left for our vacation. we are headed for the east coast. I tend to forget until we get back east how much bigger the trees are and how much greener everything is! I love Texas though-Texas has a certain charm all it's own! Here and there in Texas you have that old west charm. You see ranches sometimes still and oil wells here and there. There are more oil wells in my part of Texas than there was when I first came to Texas. Sometimes we love going down to the Fort Worth Stockyards--they used to call part of that Hell's Half acre. They do cattle drives for tourists down there at the stockyards about twice a day. Some towns are just sleepy little towns and then you have cities like Dallas and San Antonio. San Antonio is so awesome and fascinating and historical! I think I can go on and on about Texas! I will save more about that for another time! I hope to be able to blog a little more this week!

Memorable vacations!

I've gone on some memorable vacations in my life that will stand out in my life and my memory probably forever! When I was a child, my family went to Washington DC and a few other places along the way on that trip. I loved seeing so many of our nation's monuments! I probably wasn't even a teenager yet. That I can't remember. My husband would love to see Washington DC sometime and I would love to see it again! I would love to see the things I saw that time and some things I didn't see!
The summer before I went into high school, my family went to see Niagra Falls! It was on the Canadian side. I wouldn't mind seeing that again either.
A couple years ago, we took my husband to Ohio to show him where I lived until I was almost 16. We loved the time up there and we also got to see some Amish country--including a Wal Mart that caters to the Amish! On that trip, we also got to show David where my grandparents grew up in the West Virginia/Pennsylvania area--along the state line!

I Love 24!

I was soooo excited when I learned that 24 was coming back for another season after a few years give or take! My husband got me into watching 24 early in our marriage. You know no matter what that Jack Bauer will be okay, because he is the star of the show. Wow! If Jack Bauer was a real person, he would take care of so many of this world's injustices. He would be so impact foul also in stopping human trafficking! I guess I could go on and on--just saying! :)

Time Flies

Time really flies sometimes! A couple days ago, my oldest niece turned 17! I still can't believe it!  I also can't believe I've already been married over 13 years--going on 14! I remember before I got married, wondering if it was ever going to happen and then God brought a wonderful man into my life. Now, we are waiting on The Lord to give us children. We know it's going to happen. Meanwhile I love on all my nieces and nephews and my dog. It is really just amazing how time flies!

Date days

One of the best pieces of advice that my mom gave me when I got married is to date my husband on a regular basis! We started out going out on a date on our monthly anniversary--we got married on April 14, 2001. Occasionally, we have to move that date to another day because of something that might come up, but we try to do something on the 14th of each month.  We also try to go on a weekly date most of the time.  Sometimes, it is as simple as a walk. This past weekend we had some fun and went hiking and exploring at the Natural Bridge Caverns in Texas. We totally loved it and we got some good exercise!

I love to read!

I love to read! I've been reading since first grade and as a child it was hard for me to put a book down. At one time I had so many books that some friends had to convince me to give some of my books away--I was running out of space to put my books! So now I go through my books every now and then to see what I want to give away. I will sometimes take them to Half-price books. Now I also like getting e-books and sometimes I see offers for free e-books! It also makes it easier when traveling!

My Family

I'm the oldest of 6 kids. I've got 4 brothers and 1 sister. 3 of my brothers are currently in the military and the other one used to be in. Three of the military branches are covered --Air Force reserves, Coast Guard, and Army. My dad and grandfathers also used to be in.  Also my cousin and my uncle! I'm proud of all them and thankful for their service to our country! My  husband's dad  and his grandparents also. When we attended the funeral for David's grandma, we learned that she was a Rosie the Riveter! That is so cool! Also I think two of my husband's uncles were in the military.

I love history!

I totally love history! For as long as I can remember, I've had an interest in history! I love visiting old houses and learning the history of them! When I was a child and living in Ohio, my family visited President James Garfield's house. I loved it! It was so interesting! When my family moved to South Carolina, I discovered some other historical places! I could spend hours on end at the SC State museum! They even have antique cars there! I've visited the house where a former governor of South Carolina lived. I think his name was William Gist. He lived on Rose Hill plantation and he would take the river to Columbia,SC. Charleston, SC is totally awesome! It is completely drenched in history! It is so amazing walking the same streets they walked in the 1600's!

Creativity

It's been a few days since I've blogged. Things just tend to get busy sometimes--it's all good! :) I decided to rename the title of my blog and the new title is actually a title that a close friend and family member came up with--Awesomesauce! Thanks True Faith! Tonight we had an awesome choir practice preparing for singing at Gateway Church's Grand Prairie campus on Sunday! Both for weekend services and a night of worship Sunday night! Can't wait! Can't wait to see how God is going to move!!!! :)

Weather

It was an unusual winter here in Texas this past winter. We had several winter weather events! The first one we had this past winter--it was actually late fall--it wasn't even winter yet. We were iced into our driveway and couldn't make it to work. I ended up decorating for Christmas that day!  A few days later, we were going to try sledding in the snow down the hill in our front yard, but the ice/snow was starting to melt. another time, I guess! :) I used to love going sledding in the snow when I was growing up in Ohio. I also want it get back into ice skating! I loved doing that in Ohio also!

Cooking

I love to cook! I made spaghetti tonight! I end up doing most of my homemade cooking on the weekends and Monday evenings!  I've also found some recipes on Pinterest that taste pretty good too! Sometimes I also make homemade bread and homemade ice cream! Cooking is just so enjoyable!
