Amazing weekend!

Last weekend was totally amazing! Our church had their missions weekend, which we call Bless weekend. That is a time when we put an emphasis on what we are helping with across the world! Our choir put a lot of preparation into preparing for that weekend. We also sang one song in four different languages--including Hebrew! Totally amazing!
The following two days after that our choir got to minister at a pastors/worship leaders conference that our church hosts each year! It was a totally amazing experience and I learned a lot at the conference!
I'm thankful that I had the opportunity to attend it and serve also! Once there are pictures up I will plan to post them!

Checking In!

Just checking in since I've last posted.  We've been in busy season at work. Things are starting to slow down now.  Every now and then we will have a really busy day like today! :)
I'm in my second year of doing fantasy football, and loving it!
We are also coming into a busy time of year for choir. Our choir also got to help lead worship for our worship family's family night. So that was exciting!

Creativity, imaginations, and Legos!

As I child I could be rather creative in whatever I was playing with and I loved to make up stories with my toys! I would also sometimes play with my grandfather's Legos and toy cars. I know back then it was mostly boys who played with Legos and toy cars but I enjoyed it!!! I wonder if part of the reason was that I grew up with 4 brothers and 1 sister.... I reckon it has helped me have a good healthy imagination as an adult! I hope everybody has a great week!

Oils, busyness and life

I realized last week it's been a few weeks since I've blogged. I want to try to blog at least once a week. I've been trying to get my essential oils business established and I am in the middle of that. It's exciting to see everything taking shape! We are also in busy season where I work. I work at a Christian curriculum company that provides curriculum for Christian schools and homeschools across the world. We also think I had food poisoning Saturday from where we ate out for supper this past Friday night. Thankfully I'm feeling much better! I don't think I've ever felt so terrible before. My husband thinks our essential oils have been helping me get better quicker too,

Nice Weather

I am so enjoying the cooler than usual weather we have been having this summer! I can't believe it's summer in Texas! It was nice to just get out and enjoy the weather yesterday--also having the window open at night for several nights.

Essential Oils

I am starting to sell essential oils! I hosted my first essential oil class tonight. I am also learning as I go. I am reading a lot about the oils as I go. I think I realized today that I am probably as passionate about the oils as I am about helping stop human trafficking!

Something Interesting At The Grocery Store

When I ran into the grocery store after work tonight, I saw something interesting! It was a ramen noodles cookbook with several ideas of what to make with ramen noodles. If you are unfamiliar with ramen noodles, it's a soup. I didn't get a chance to look through it, but I'm thinking about getting it--I wonder what ideas I can get from that cookbook? We shall see...

Sometimes you just have to laugh!

Last night I went to a ladies event at my church. It was a night filled with laughter! Every summer, my church has a laugh night for us ladies. A couple times this week I was trying to decide whether or not to go. I knew I'd be glad that I went. I also got to hang out with a friend and we got to sit together. I am so glad that even though I was tired from a busy week that I went! The laughing was just so good for me! It also just lifts your spirit! Sometimes--you just have to laugh!

Current world events

I know that everybody might not agree with me, but those illegal immigrant children that came over the border from Mexico deserve a chance. I've been seeing differing viewpoints on the news and on Facebook. They are people too and they deserve a chance. I just hate that people are bashing them and everything.

Awesome Experience!

I had an incredibly awesome experience on Friday! We got to see a Revolutionary reeactment. I hadn't seen one of those in years! I remember when I was going to school when my family lived in Ohio that we would see a reeactment sometimes. My husband, who grew up in Texas, had never seen one before and absolutely loved it!
One other cool thing that we got to see was an antique car show and a tractor show. I love old cars!

A Day In The Mountains!

Today we went to see the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, NC! That is the second time I've been there! Seriously, if you have never been there--it is so worth the visit! You just leave feeling so refreshed--I just can't put it into words!
We also visited the Linville Caverns! Those were so awesome! We will definitely plan to return! It was so awesome that we were also in the Chimney Rock, NC/Bat Cave, NC where my husband and I honeymooned just over 13 years ago! I eventually want to go back to Chimney Rock! I will leave you with a picture of the caverns!

Favorite Places

One of my most favorite places in the world is Charleston, SC! I got to go down there for a little while today! I got to walk through the Charleston City Market down there--it goes back to 1804! At the entrance, you see people making sweet grass baskets. They've been making those a couple hundred years down there! We also got some good seafood down there! Charleston is one of my favorite cities!

Reading! One of my favorite past times!

I just realized I wrote some about this a few weeks ago, so I changed my title a little this time. I think I had some other stuff this time about reading than I did last time. Sorry for being a little repetitious there. :( I've been reading since 1st grade and I haven't really stopped since! :) I remember how my teacher had colorful word charts and that has stuck with me! I am so thankful for Mrs. Gideon! I don't get to read as often as I used to but I am trying to make room in my schedule for that a little more! I have several e-books on my iPad and my iPhone. I also have some paperback and hardback books! I just recently finished reading Heaven Is For Real! It was pretty good! I'm looking forward to getting the DVD once it comes out! I've got a book with me that I want to get a good ways into while I'm on vacation--All Things Hidden by Tracie Peterson and Kimberly Woodhouse! Well--I'm off to read a little, I think! :) have a good evening! :)

Texas

We have left for our vacation. we are headed for the east coast. I tend to forget until we get back east how much bigger the trees are and how much greener everything is! I love Texas though-Texas has a certain charm all it's own! Here and there in Texas you have that old west charm. You see ranches sometimes still and oil wells here and there. There are more oil wells in my part of Texas than there was when I first came to Texas. Sometimes we love going down to the Fort Worth Stockyards--they used to call part of that Hell's Half acre. They do cattle drives for tourists down there at the stockyards about twice a day. Some towns are just sleepy little towns and then you have cities like Dallas and San Antonio. San Antonio is so awesome and fascinating and historical! I think I can go on and on about Texas! I will save more about that for another time! I hope to be able to blog a little more this week!

Memorable vacations!

I've gone on some memorable vacations in my life that will stand out in my life and my memory probably forever! When I was a child, my family went to Washington DC and a few other places along the way on that trip. I loved seeing so many of our nation's monuments! I probably wasn't even a teenager yet. That I can't remember. My husband would love to see Washington DC sometime and I would love to see it again! I would love to see the things I saw that time and some things I didn't see!
The summer before I went into high school, my family went to see Niagra Falls! It was on the Canadian side. I wouldn't mind seeing that again either.
A couple years ago, we took my husband to Ohio to show him where I lived until I was almost 16. We loved the time up there and we also got to see some Amish country--including a Wal Mart that caters to the Amish! On that trip, we also got to show David where my grandparents grew up in the West Virginia/Pennsylvania area--along the state line!

I Love 24!

I was soooo excited when I learned that 24 was coming back for another season after a few years give or take! My husband got me into watching 24 early in our marriage. You know no matter what that Jack Bauer will be okay, because he is the star of the show. Wow! If Jack Bauer was a real person, he would take care of so many of this world's injustices. He would be so impact foul also in stopping human trafficking! I guess I could go on and on--just saying! :)

Time Flies

Time really flies sometimes! A couple days ago, my oldest niece turned 17! I still can't believe it!  I also can't believe I've already been married over 13 years--going on 14! I remember before I got married, wondering if it was ever going to happen and then God brought a wonderful man into my life. Now, we are waiting on The Lord to give us children. We know it's going to happen. Meanwhile I love on all my nieces and nephews and my dog. It is really just amazing how time flies!

Date days

One of the best pieces of advice that my mom gave me when I got married is to date my husband on a regular basis! We started out going out on a date on our monthly anniversary--we got married on April 14, 2001. Occasionally, we have to move that date to another day because of something that might come up, but we try to do something on the 14th of each month.  We also try to go on a weekly date most of the time.  Sometimes, it is as simple as a walk. This past weekend we had some fun and went hiking and exploring at the Natural Bridge Caverns in Texas. We totally loved it and we got some good exercise!

I love to read!

I love to read! I've been reading since first grade and as a child it was hard for me to put a book down. At one time I had so many books that some friends had to convince me to give some of my books away--I was running out of space to put my books! So now I go through my books every now and then to see what I want to give away. I will sometimes take them to Half-price books. Now I also like getting e-books and sometimes I see offers for free e-books! It also makes it easier when traveling!

My Family

I'm the oldest of 6 kids. I've got 4 brothers and 1 sister. 3 of my brothers are currently in the military and the other one used to be in. Three of the military branches are covered --Air Force reserves, Coast Guard, and Army. My dad and grandfathers also used to be in.  Also my cousin and my uncle! I'm proud of all them and thankful for their service to our country! My  husband's dad  and his grandparents also. When we attended the funeral for David's grandma, we learned that she was a Rosie the Riveter! That is so cool! Also I think two of my husband's uncles were in the military.

I love history!

I totally love history! For as long as I can remember, I've had an interest in history! I love visiting old houses and learning the history of them! When I was a child and living in Ohio, my family visited President James Garfield's house. I loved it! It was so interesting! When my family moved to South Carolina, I discovered some other historical places! I could spend hours on end at the SC State museum! They even have antique cars there! I've visited the house where a former governor of South Carolina lived. I think his name was William Gist. He lived on Rose Hill plantation and he would take the river to Columbia,SC. Charleston, SC is totally awesome! It is completely drenched in history! It is so amazing walking the same streets they walked in the 1600's!

Creativity

It's been a few days since I've blogged. Things just tend to get busy sometimes--it's all good! :) I decided to rename the title of my blog and the new title is actually a title that a close friend and family member came up with--Awesomesauce! Thanks True Faith! Tonight we had an awesome choir practice preparing for singing at Gateway Church's Grand Prairie campus on Sunday! Both for weekend services and a night of worship Sunday night! Can't wait! Can't wait to see how God is going to move!!!! :)

Weather

It was an unusual winter here in Texas this past winter. We had several winter weather events! The first one we had this past winter--it was actually late fall--it wasn't even winter yet. We were iced into our driveway and couldn't make it to work. I ended up decorating for Christmas that day!  A few days later, we were going to try sledding in the snow down the hill in our front yard, but the ice/snow was starting to melt. another time, I guess! :) I used to love going sledding in the snow when I was growing up in Ohio. I also want it get back into ice skating! I loved doing that in Ohio also!

Cooking

I love to cook! I made spaghetti tonight! I end up doing most of my homemade cooking on the weekends and Monday evenings!  I've also found some recipes on Pinterest that taste pretty good too! Sometimes I also make homemade bread and homemade ice cream! Cooking is just so enjoyable!

Fun memories

I grew up with 5 siblings--1 sister and 4 brothers! I'm the oldest and my sister is basically in the middle. She and one of my brothers are twins! I have tons of fun memories from when we were growing up! I was born in Cleveland, OH and moved to South Carolina when I was nearly 16! I was in marching band in high school in Ohio and loved it! We were the Bedford Bearcats! I played the clarinet! I wish I could find a picture of our uniforms! They were so cool! If I ever do find a picture, I will plan to put it up on here!

Natural health

I've been into natural healing and herbs and vitamins for several years! Recently somebody told me about a natural allergy  medicine that has really helped me! Before that I was basically burning through allergy medicine all the time and was feeling horrible. After I started taking Sinusalia, I started feeling worlds better and I've been able to drastically cut down how often I take it! I've also been thinking about the essential oils a lot and was curious about them. A friend gave me some samples today and David and are already feeling much better and feeling a huge difference!

Refreshing time!

When we were up in Missouri, we got to go on a riverboat ride on the Meramac River. That was really relaxing! It was right next to the Meramac Caverns where Jesse James and his gang hid out. We saw the caverns last time we were up in Missouri! I absolutely love history--therefore I found it really fascinating that Jesse James and his gang hid out there! Here is a picture I got on our way back from the riverboat ride! You can see the outside of the caverns in the background!

Memorial Day

I'm so thankful for those who have served our country and the sacrifice they've made! My grandfathers both served and my dad also! All four of my brothers have also served--3 of them are still in the military! My husband's dad and his grandparents were both in the military also! After David's grandmother passed at the end of January--beginning of February, we learned that David's grandmother was a Rosie the Riveter! David's dad was in several different branches of the military over the course of several years!

Rejuvenating weekend!

We had a relaxing getaway this weekend! We went to Missouri for a couple of days! On the way up there, we stopped in Mansfield, MO where Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote the Little House on the Prairie books! My parents gave me the set of books for Christmas when I was a child! I also loved watching the series on TV! The houses there where the Wilders lived are so peaceful! They said that the farmhouse the Wilders lived in is like how it was when Laura Ingalls Wilder died!

Traveling

My husband and I love to travel! We prefer driving because we see so much beautiful scenery and everything! We also like to travel at night because traffic isn't so bad. :) we have started doing a few smaller trips thoughout the year and at Christmas and during the summer before it gets busy at work we go on summer vacation. If I remember right, I think I also loved to travel as a child!

Thursday, May 22, 2014

This is all so new to me! I've never blogged before, but I love to write! I'm the oldest of 6 kids and I was born in the Cleveland, OH. I consider myself a transplanted Southerner. I moved to South Carolina when I was almost 16. I went to college in Texas and settled here in Texas after I got married. I have a dog named Lady! I love to cook and I have found some good recipes on Pinterest! More later--it's pretty late! Goodnight!
